Project Overview
School within a school design gives DaVinci Academy its own identity.
When DaVinci Academy expanded to two grades, the school needed to carve out more space at an existing school. AMS created an innovative site design with four wings of tech-enabled, project-based learning space cleverly landscaped to provide a separate mini campus on the grounds of Maywood Middle School. Four classroom buildings, including a fully equipped STEM building, are highly sustainable, with high-efficiency HVAC systems reducing energy demand and large low-E windows and Solatubes streaming daylight throughout each learning space. The dedicated STEM building adds savvy upgrades like interior and exterior glass NanaWalls that reconfigure space for multiple uses, while providing natural ventilation and easy access to an outdoor courtyard.
- Fully networked classrooms support resource and information sharing
- Science/technology labs connect to a makerspace for STEAM programming
- Continuous ventilation systems filter fresh air, ensuring excellent IAQ
