Project Overview
Adaptable DSA-PC design expedited expansion of high desert campus.
A rapid growth in residential construction created a dramatic increase in enrollment for Rosamond schools. AMS worked with Southern Kern USD to expand the middle school, adapting an AMS FORM PC design to accelerate delivery of seven new 96×40 classroom buildings and four 12×40 restroom buildings for the 2024-25 school year. Durable construction features sand-colored stucco façades and dual pitch metal roofs that can withstand the extreme temperatures of the Mojave Desert. Vaulted ceilings and large windows make all 28 classrooms—four per building—feel bright and airy. The upgraded electrical infrastructure was designed to maintain interior comfort during the high desert’s temperature swings, with electric water heaters and gas/electric wall-mounted HVAC units chosen to balance efficiency and cost.
- Two special ed classrooms and two makerspace labs add program support
- A variety of different carpet tile patterns make each classroom unique
- Installing two restroom modules back-to-back is more efficient and saved money
